Editorial Policy

Our promise: accurate, independent, genuinely useful guidance — and a clear line between education and advice.

Independence

Our content is created independently. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over what we write, which topics we cover, or the conclusions we reach. We do not accept payment to feature, favor or omit any insurer or product.

Accuracy and sourcing

We research each guide against authoritative, primary sources — state Departments of Insurance, consumer protection regulators and established consumer-advocacy organizations — and we write in plain English. Insurance rules vary by state and change over time, so we review and update our guides and note when terms or practices commonly differ by jurisdiction.

Education, not advice

Everything we publish is general consumer education. It is not, and cannot be, personalized insurance, legal or financial advice, because we cannot see your policy or your circumstances. For decisions about your coverage or a claim, consult a licensed agent, a licensed public adjuster, an attorney, or your state Department of Insurance.

Corrections

If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, please tell us at hello@homeinsuranceinsider.com and we will review and correct it promptly. Accuracy matters more to us than being right.
